February 2008: Professor Iftode's research paper on adaptive traffic lights is featured in various media articles [ 1, 2, 3 ]. This is joint work with UPB Vehicular Computing Project.

December 2007: Congratulations to Aniruddha Bohra as he successfully defends his PH.D. thesis. He is working as a Research Staff Member at NEC Laboratories.

December 2007: Congratulations to Nishkam Ravi as he successfully defends his PH.D. thesis. This Fall he starts in his new position as a Research Scientist at Intel.

December 2007: Professor Tatsuo Nakajima from Waseda University, Japan visited Rutgers to speak about Software Infrastructure for Next Generation Computing Environments.

October 2007: Discolab's research on pervasive computing is featured in the Q4, 2007 issue of the SIGnature Magazine of the Bluetooth Special Interest Group.

August 2007: Professor Iftode organized and moderated a panel on vehicular networks at The 4th Annual International Conference on Mobile and Ubiquitous Systems: Computing, Networking and Services (MOBIQUITOUS 2007).

August 2007: The Vehicular Information Transfer Protocol (VITP), a collaborative work between Discolab and the University of Cyprus, is featured in an article in the International Science Grid This Week online magazine.

May 2007: Discolab participates in the 2nd Helsinki-Rutgers Ph.D. Student Workshop on Spontaneous Networking. The workshop is held on May 28-June 1, 2007 at the University of Helsinki. (details)

April 2007: Professor Iftode is awarded the Medal of the University of Helsinki in recognition of his service to the University.

October 2006: Professor Iftode is co-editor of the IEEE Pervasive Computing Special Issue on Intelligent Transportation (October-December 2006 (Vol. 5, No. 4)).

October 2006: Professor Iftode is invited to speak at the 12th International Conference on Reliable Software Technologies (Geneva, Switzerland, June 25-29, 2007). The title of the talk is "Observation Rooms for Program Execution Monitoring".

October 2006: A short presentation of the TrafficView outdoor demonstration was announced in the Work in Progress section of the October 2006 issue of IEEE Pervasive Computing.

June 2006: Discolab is co-organizing the 1st Rutgers / Pierre and Marie Curie Workshop (Paris, France).

May 2006: Discolab hosts the Helsinki-Rutgers Ph.D. Student Workshop on Spontaneous Networking. The workshop is held on May 8-12, 2006 at Rutgers University. (details)

April 2006: Jean-Baptiste Voron and Xavier Renault, from UPMC, Paris, France, present the current projects and directions for the Disco Lab - LIP6 collaboration. (Slides)

January 2006: Graduate Seminar in Computer Systems is offered at Princeton University by Professor Liviu Iftode (Rutgers) and Professor Kai Li (Princeton).

January 2006: Professor Liviu Iftode (Rutgers) and Professor Fabrice Kordon (University Paris 6) coordinate two joint Masters thesis topics for LIP6 students in 2006. (Thesis #1) (Thesis #2)

December 2005: Disco Lab participates in joint workshop with IRISA/INRIA (Dec. 1-2 : Rennes, France): Workshop on Self-Healing and Fault-Tolerant Systems

August 2005: Professor Iftode and his recently graduated Ph.D. student, Cristian Borcea (now at NJIT) receive an NSF collaborative award worth $525,000 (NSF Award #0520123 and NSF Award #0520033) for their project "Collaborative Research: NeTS-NBD: Exploring the Design and Implementation of Vehicular Networked Systems."

April 2005: Professor Iftode is co-editor of the IEEE Pervasive Computing Special Issue on Smart Phones (April-June 2005 (Vol. 4, No. 2)).

January 2005: New graduate seminar on vehicular technology is offered by Professor Iftode in the Spring 2005 semester


September 2004: Congratulations to Florin Sultan as he successfully defends his PH.D. thesis. This Fall he starts in his new position as a Research Scientist at NEC Labs.
